The Scoliosis Mind/Body Connection

March 30, 2015

It’s important to understand the mind/body connection with scoliosis. Rather than simply focusing on the curves in your spine and ways to unwind those curves, you have to visualize how those curves affect the rest of the body – your hips, your arms, your shoulders, the way you move, and more. Even if you’ve had spinal fusion surgery or you’re currently wearing a back brace, you still have scoliosis, which makes the mind/body connection even more critical. The ultimate, overall goal is to bring the spine back to a more neutral alignment

Watch the video above as I use visual aids to demonstrate ways to decompress and lengthen your spine.

😌 Ahhhhhh, I feel a lot better now. I had a har 😌 Ahhhhhh, I feel a lot better now. I had a hard time sleeping in this morning because my body felt really tight. I’m sure the tightness is from working on clients (and workout out with a few) this week without adequately mobilizing afterwards. So, I woke up before the rest of my family did, took things into ny own hands, and unlocked my body. I found that I couldn’t go directly at releasing my back because it just wouldn’t budge (I tried that approach first to no avail). So, I went the sneaky route and unlocked my torso through my legs, arms, and neck—-and it worked! 🤛 Happy Saturday! #morningworkout #scoliosis #tightback #spiralspine #scoliosisexercise #scoliosiswarrior #bentbutnotbroken #scoliosisawareness

Looking to take a Pilates class with Spiral Spine? We recommend downloading the MBO app. This is the preferred way to sign up for all our classes, from groups to privates, in-person to virtual. You can even register for the Scoliosis Retreat. On your phone/tablet, using the app will be a much friendlier experience than the MBO website.
