Scoliosis Care at Spiral Spine
Scoliosis care at Spiral Spine is highly individualized because we know no one else lives in your body but you. Every journey, however, has some similar steps.
Our most important goal is to help you own your spiral spine in your everyday life by teaching you vital information about your unique scoliosis and guiding you in developing a routine to care for it. We seek to empower you by teaching you:
- The direction and number of your curves
- Which muscles are sleepy, which are not, and how to create more muscular balance
- Where your pads go during exercise if you need pads
- Breath work
- What modifications to make during movement
- How to find your scoli scare plan & dream team and know when to make changes
Can you discuss bracing, surgery, or other scoliosis topics with me?
Yes! Back bracing, surgery, and nutrition are among the topics we get A LOT of questions about. Erin Myers and the Spiral Spine staff spent many years reading research and working with clients to create the book I Have Scoliosis; Now What? We suggest you get the book to learn more. If you want to speak further about these topics, please book a consultation or private lesson.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Which instructor should I work with?
How many private lessons will I need to take?
Scoli care is very individualized and looks different for each person. In addition, your goals will also impact this. Please scroll up and look at the scoli care plans from real clients of ours to get a broad idea of what your plan could look like.
What will my first private lessons look like?
People come to us for a lot of varied reasons, especially among those who have scoliosis. So there is no one way your first few lessons will look. Sometimes people want to talk and ask us questions and sometimes they want a Pilates lesson. There is no wrong way to start your journey with Spiral Spine. However, if you want your lesson to look a certain way, please let us know, and we will do our absolute best to accommodate you. The more you tell us about your desires, the better we are able to help you.
Do you take insurance?
We don’t take insurance, but many clients have had success using their HSA, FSA, or exercise benefit programs through work. We highly suggest you explore these options if they are available to you.
What should I wear?
Wear something you feel comfortable moving in. You will likely be laying down or kneeling in a variety of positions, so you may feel comfortable in longer or close-fitting shorts or pants. Capris and long workout pants are great. Socks or bare feet are fine.
How long do classes last?
All classes are 50 minutes.
How do I sign up?
For both group classes and private instruction, in person or virtual, please register here to schedule your lesson. You’re welcome to contact the studio if you need assistance registering.
What is the cancellation policy?
If you must cancel your scheduled lesson, please do so 24 hours in advance to avoid a full-service charge. While we understand that unforeseeable circumstances and illnesses do occur, the 24-hour cancellation policy remains in place.
Do you offer virtual lessons if I’m not able to come to the studio?
Yes! Erin and several of our teachers offers private, virtual lessons at the same rates as their private appointments. For information on how to schedule and prepare for a virtual lesson, please visit our virtual lessons page.

Add-on services
30 minute phone consult
A 30-minute phone call with your teacher can cover any Pilates or scoliosis topic. Many of our clients find they have more questions than they can fit in a lesson or sometimes, they (or the parent) wants to spend the lesson time moving. This service is also useful when you have a new x-ray, brace, or doctor's appointment and want your teacher's opinion. Finally, a phone call can be extremely helpful at the beginning of your journey at Spiral Spine and will help you better understand your scoliosis, scoli schedule, and scoli dream team.
This service is only open to clients that have had at least one private lesson (not including a lesson with Erin), either in-studio or virtually. The phone call must be with a teacher you’ve had a lesson with (not including Erin). (Need to speak with Erin? Please book a regular 50-minute appointment)
To book, speak with your teacher at the end of a lesson or contact her directly by email or phone. Need further assistance? You may always call or email.
video recording of homework or mini-workout
This service provides a customized, 20-minute recorded video for two weeks. It can either be: a) your homework from lessons or b) a mini-workout. The workout will be tailored to your body and needs and will use the equipment you have. Once your teacher schedules this service, please allow her 48 hours to send you the recording.
