30 minute phone consult

A 30-minute phone call with your teacher can cover any Pilates or scoliosis topic. Many of our clients find they have more questions than they can fit in a lesson or sometimes, they (or the parent) wants to spend the lesson time moving. This service is also useful when you have a new x-ray, brace, or doctor's appointment and want your teacher's opinion. Finally, a phone call can be extremely helpful at the beginning of your journey at Spiral Spine and will help you better understand your scoliosis, scoli schedule, and scoli dream team.

This service is only open to clients that have had at least one private lesson (not including a lesson with Erin), either in-studio or virtually. The phone call must be with a teacher you’ve had a lesson with (not including Erin). (Need to speak with Erin? Please book a regular 50-minute appointment)

To book, speak with your teacher at the end of a lesson or contact her directly by email or phone. Need further assistance? You may always call or email.

video recording of homework or mini-workout

This service provides a customized, 20-minute recorded video for two weeks. It can either be: a) your homework from lessons or b) a mini-workout. The workout will be tailored to your body and needs and will use the equipment you have. Once your teacher schedules this service, please allow her 48 hours to send you the recording.

This service is only open to clients that have had at least one private lesson (not including a lesson with Erin), either in-studio or virtually. This service can only be with a teacher you’ve had a lesson with (not including Erin).

To book, speak with your teacher at the end of a lesson or contact her directly by email or phone. Need further assistance? You may always call or email.

pilates for scoliosis near me

"I happened to be in Nashville in January 2020, and booked a private with Erin. From that lesson forward, my journey with scoliosis has literally been changed forever.

I reside in Florida, so I couldn’t meet with Erin in-person to continue our private lessons. When Erin suggested we continue working together virtually, I was skeptical, but let me ease any fears or uncertainties you might have. Erin’s virtual lessons are as if you are with her in person. I often think Erin has x-ray vision, as she can see the tiniest spots that are off in my body, and this is all via a virtual platform. On more than one occasion, I’ve been completely awestruck after our weekly lesson, as pain I’ve been struggling with simply melted away. I literally thank God for Erin, as she has truly changed my life.

Seriously, there is no challenge too small or too immense for Erin. Virtual lessons work and you can thrive too! The words ‘thank you’ will never be enough to express my gratitude to Erin and her studio."

Melissa R., Florida

HOW TO BOOK & PREPARE FOR YOUR VIRTUAL PRIVATE

BOOK THE LESSON

  1. Visit the booking site: book with Erin or book with all other teachers.
  2. Find a time and date that works for you and book & pay for your lesson. Please note you are booking in the US central time zone.
  3. Looking to book an add-on service? Please contact your teacher directly.

EMAIL YOUR HISTORY at least 24 hours before your lesson

  1. Email a brief summary of your history. If you have scoliosis, send any pictures or x-rays of your back. A photo of an x-ray is fine.
  2. Include your name and the date of your lesson in the subject line.

PREPARE FOR YOUR LESSON

  1. Find a quiet space where you can comfortably lay down that has at least 3-ft of space on either side of you.
  2. Brainstorm questions and goals for the lesson. Have that list and a paper and pen with you during the lesson so you can take notes.
  3. Set up your internet-connected video device. Test the connection before the lesson. Also test the view by turning on the camera. Please make sure you place the device somewhere that allows us to see your body length-wise.
  4. Gather any equipment or props you have. This can be traditional Pilates equipment or anything you can safely work with. Examples include: mats, balls, towels, therabands, yoga blocks, & hand weights.
  5. Watch for an email. It will come directly from your teacher and have a link to Zoom in it. If you don't see an email, please check your spam/junk folder.
  6. Click on the Zoom link at least 5 minutes prior to your lesson. This allows time for the program to open and you to get situated, thereby making the most of your lesson. The teacher will join at the appointed time.

We can't wait to work with you!

"What a wonderful experience virtual Pilates has turned out to be! My teacher took care of all the technological issues; all I needed was my iPad and a carpeted space. She began each session by asking me what was going on with my neck, and then we worked for an hour on gentle exercises that left me feeling unlocked and relaxed. If I was unable to understand what she was asking me to do, she demonstrated the exercise which I was able to watch on my iPad. She also developed a series of easy daily exercises for me to do on my own; she provided photos and written instructions; then she watched me perform these exercises during one of our sessions to ensure I was doing them properly. Working remotely has been every bit as productive as being in the studio!"

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

How do I ask my teacher questions outside of lessons?

We are so glad you asked! So many of our clients run out of time during lessons (or want to spend that time working out) and not all of their questions get addressed. Please contact your teacher to book this 30-minute phone call where you can ask her anything (Pilates or scoliosis related) that’s on your mind. The price for this service is $50. If you work with Erin, please book a regular appointment with her.

Do you provide video recordings of exercises?

We can! We offer a 20-minute recorded video of either: a) your homework or b) a mini-workout. The recording will be available for two weeks after you receive it. This makes a great add-on to a lesson and is $50. You may can be an in-person or virtual client and receive this service. Please contact your teacher directly to book.

*At this time, Erin is only available for regular private lessons.

Do you take insurance?

We don’t take insurance, but many clients have had success using their HSA, FSA, or exercise benefit programs through work. We highly suggest you explore these options if they are available to you.

What should I wear?

Wear something you feel comfortable moving in. You will likely be laying down or kneeling in a variety of positions, so you may feel comfortable in longer or close-fitting shorts or pants. Capris and long workout pants are great. Socks or bare feet are fine.

Can I take Pilates if I have a special issue with my body?

Absolutely! Our staff specializes in developing programs and exercise modifications for clients dealing with injuries and other physical issues (i.e. scoliosis, lower back issues, and pregnancy). Please book a private appointment first so you can learn appropriate modifications before booking a group class.

How long do classes last?

All classes are 50 minutes.

How do I sign up?

For both group classes and private instruction, in person or virtual, please register here to schedule your lesson. You’re welcome to contact the studio if you need assistance registering.

What is the cancellation policy?

If you must cancel your scheduled lesson, please do so 24 hours in advance to avoid a full-service charge. While we understand that unforeseeable circumstances and illnesses do occur, the 24-hour cancellation policy remains in place.

WHAT OUR STUDENTS ARE SAYING:

england zoom scoliosis lesson
pilates teacher teaches daughter

"I contacted Erin after listening to a Pilates podcast she was interviewed on, and I was in awe of all the research and dedication she has given to her work on scoliosis. She is without a doubt the Queen of Pilates for scoliosis, and has completely changed the course of my daughters Pilates journey.  I work with my daughter closely each day as she has Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), which is very complex and Erin is there to take us a step further each time we are ready. My daughter instantly had confidence in her teaching and trusted Erin, which can be difficult as EDS is not well understood. Erin is very approachable and loved by my daughter for her boundless energy and positivity. She works safely and methodically and we are very grateful to have Erin on board our path to moving freely and pain free. I have complete confidence and feel incredibly inspired by her work. As a Pilates teacher myself, it’s a double bonus watching and learning from her teaching!"

I highly recommend virtual Pilates with Spiral Spine! I was hesitant to take virtual classes, but my instructor quickly changed that. She worked with me every step of the way, addressing all my needs. I do not feel like I lost any part of my work-out during the transition from studio to virtual lessons. Never thought it would be possible to break a sweat in my little apartment living room, but it is! Do not hesitate, book a virtual Pilates lesson.

SuzAnne K., Minnesota

Previously I would have said, “I don’t do virtual lessons!” based on several not-so-good experiences. Then I took a few lessons from Jennifer. She was very attentive to my posture needs - especially my knee/hip, where I have damage. Jennifer is fun, chatty, and very clever in addressing my body's needs. I would say “I can’t or won’t bridge,” because the exercise previously caused me nerve pain and then find myself bridging with Jennifer without pain!!! Who knew?!?! Living in Minnesota, trying virtual work with this talented Pilates teacher was my only choice. It was and is great! I have had several sessions with her, and she still corrects my form, is brilliant about getting me to do things that are challenging, and motivates me to be a stronger person. I would highly recommend doing virtual lessons and working with Jennifer.

Gretchen O., Tennessee

My daughter and I had our first virtual Pilates lesson with Jennifer. Using Zoom to connect with her was easy to do. We covered a lot of ground (haha!) during our time, as we did Mat exercises with some props we had at home. It was a fun change of pace, and we still got the same level of instruction as we regularly receive in the studio. We both felt better after the lesson and plan to take another lesson virtually soon!

Paige W., Tennessee
Thank you for the virtual Pilates lessons during this new season! It was blessing to keep something familiar on my schedule even though it was a new format. I found the additional benefit of exercises that I could easily do at home. As someone with fused scoli, I have learned that I must move everyday so these new options are wonderful! Thank you again, and I will continue virtual lessons on occasion to keep my home workout up to par!

Both arms are moving, but the Lt (the side that doesn’t fire very well) has an extra weight and the Rt (my hypertonic side) has a pinky ball under the upper trap to encourage the muscle to not spasm up during movement. A bridge was added in for stability, and well, you could see that was a bit of a challenge for me. #pilates #scoliosis #spiralspine #bentbutnotbroken #scoliosisawareness #scoliosiswarrior #scoliosisexercise #scoliosisstrong #balancedbody
