How do I care for scoliosis virtually?

November 9, 2021

Many people ask me if I can provide care for scoliosis virtually. I can, and my team and I have been doing it with clients around the world for years.

Just like an in-studio private session, you can have your scoliosis assessed, be taught pad-placement, and learn exercises for your individual body. We can also help you create a scoli schedule and give guidance on building a dream team, so you can get the care you need–no matter where you are in the world. After an initial assessment, just like in-person, you can continue learning and working out in private virtual lessons or take group virtual classes with others who have scoliosis where you’ll reduce pain, build strength, improve your quality of life, and build a community with others who have bodies just like yours.

The left x-ray belongs to a 44-year-old virtual Spiral Spine client that has taken a weekly private lesson every week for about a year and a half. We’ve helped her reduce her scoli curves, improve her overall strength and flexibility, and decrease her pain.

This second x-ray (on the right) belongs to a 13-year-old scoli client. The drastic curve reduction is mainly due to her fabulous brace created by Dr. Moramarco. However, this client also regularly practices the Schroth exercises (taught by Dr. Moramarco’s team) and has a virtual private or group lesson with a Spiral Spine teacher every few weeks.

Her mother first reached out to Spiral Spine so we could be a form of emotional therapy for her daughter during this drastic change. While we still provide her with that support, the relationship has blossomed into so much more.

Her parents purchased her a Pilates Reformer, which she has fallen in love with. When she gets to take her brace off every day, she gets on the reformer to strengthen and stretch her scoli body with the exercises taught to her by the Spiral Spine staff. Her body is now more muscularly balanced both in strength and flexibility, and she now has the tools and desire to keep training her scoli body long-term.

Everyone that has scoli around the world has a unique body and soul that needs to be loved on and cared for in a special fashion, and we understand that at Spiral Spine. Whether it’s weekly virtual lessons or group classes, or a session every once in a while for check-ins and support, we’re happy to be a part of your team however we can help.

Ready to work with us? My staff has virtual lessons at many days and times of the week so you can find the best fit for you. Each of my instructors is hand-trained by me and can help you find the perfect scoli care routine for you. We can’t wait to work with you!

Out of the mouth of ⭐️ instructor Jackie Arnol Out of the mouth of ⭐️ instructor Jackie Arnold: Breathing. It's essential to life. It assists in moving the body, regulating mood and stress. I have this super fun client who wanted to see if exhaling into a balloon would help her connect better to contracting her transverse abdominous. We moved around in a variety of positions and tested this out. Results were deemed successful 🙌 😃 😊 AND my kids are very thankful for all the new balloons they get to play with. #multitasking

Yes, even while having scoliosis I go into my curv Yes, even while having scoliosis I go into my curve to teach my body to remain stable. I’ve recently been mobilizing a lot evenly on both sides and it’s been a concept that my staff and I have been playing around with a lot. I’ve given the exercises to many scoli clients and it’s an awesome neural retraining process. Give it a try and let me know what you think. #scoliosis #scoliosiseducation #scoliosisexercise #bentbutnotbroken #scoliosisawareness #spiralspine #pilates #pilatesreformer #nashvillepilates

Looking to take a Pilates class with Spiral Spine? We recommend downloading the MBO app. This is the preferred way to sign up for all our classes, from groups to privates, in-person to virtual. You can even register for the Scoliosis Retreat. On your phone/tablet, using the app will be a much friendlier experience than the MBO website.
